The Ghana Education Service (GES) has disclosed that 80% of the 62,000 laptops for Senior High School teachers under the One teacher One laptop project have been delivered across the regions as of 10th December 2021.
This phase of the project, it said, is expected to be completed on the 17th December, 2021 and the Phase 2 and 3 for the Junior High and Primary schools will commence in January 2022 when schools re-open.
In a statement to update teachers and the general public on the laptop project that has been a subject of public debate lately, the GES disclosed the TM1 laptop has a training component and that 260 GES District ICT Coordinators have been trained so far with certified Microsoft ICT tools to provide technical support to teachers.
“Digital online training and learning modules will commence in the coming weeks for every teacher.”
“The training will include digitizing lesson notes. using online tools for learning management and supporting learners with these online training attracting CPD points for the teacher,” the statement.
The Service disclosed that to ensure teachers get access to approved GES/NaCCA learning resources, KA Technology has signed an agreement with all major publishers to have their textbooks and other teaching and learning materials uploaded on the portal.
The One teacher One Laptop programme was launched on 3rd September, 2021 by Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawuma, and supported by the Minister for Education, his Deputy Ministers and Director-General of GES.
