political scamFlagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has described the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration as the ‘biggest political scam’ ever pulled on Ghanaians since independence in 1957.
According to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has destroyed livelihoods and families, and pushed millions of the Ghanaian people below the poverty line.
Speaking at the NDC’s manifesto launch on Saturday, August 24, Mahama launched a scathing attack on President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia, accusing their administration of mismanaging Ghana’s democracy and economy.
“Ghanaians can no longer endure the hardship, impunity, state capture, and mismanagement inflicted by the NPP government,” he stated.
He accused the NPP of leading Ghana into a state of deep crisis marked by widespread poverty, mismanagement, and corruption.
According to him, the governing NPP has consistently failed to deliver on its promises, while the 2024 manifesto they plan to present is a mere rehash of previous commitments intended to deceive Ghanaians.
Mahama, who served as president from 2012 to 2016, argued that the NPP administration has dashed the hopes of citizens who dreamed of a better future under Akufo-Addo’s leadership.
He noted that expectations were high, but Ghanaians have been left disappointed.
“Most Ghanaians will agree that Nana Akufo-Addo is indeed the President Ghana never got. Indeed, I dare say, his much-touted economic whiz kid, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is also the economic messiah Ghana never got,” Mahama said.
Mahama called on Ghanaians to vote out the NPP in the upcoming December 2024 elections, urging citizens to end what he described as the “tyranny, cronyism, and corruption” of the current administration.
He promised to restore the country’s democracy and bring relief to the people through visionary and trustworthy leadership.
“Your vote on December 7 will end this political scam, the tyranny, the cronyism, the corruption, and the hardship, and pave the way for the vision, experience, and trustworthiness that I, John Dramani Mahama, will restore to the Flagstaff House,” he said.
Mahama emphasized that Ghana is in crisis and appealed to patriotic citizens to rise and help reset the nation.
The time, he said, has come for Ghanaians to take back control and steer the country towards a better future.
