He was born on Friday, July 21, 1944; he celebrated his 68th birthday on, Saturday, July 21, 2012; he passed-on to glory on, Wednesday, July 24, 2012.
Were he still in the land of the living, today, Sunday, July 21, 2024, would have seen the late President John Evans Atta-Mills mark his 80th birthday – and his legitimate maternal family from Ekumfi Otuam, was at the Asomdwe Park early this morning to mark the occasion.
The Ekumfi Odomna family led by Obaahemaa Nana Enifua III, Kyidomhemaa of the Odomna Ebusua and Ebusuapanyin Kobina Biney, led the Clan Heads to the celebration.

Amidst singing, dancing and powerful prayers, the 80th birthday of the late President was marked to the glory of God.
As a devout Christian who never shied away from his love for God and the Word of God, the family’s birthday present, was a copy of the Holy Bible.
Also present was Samuel Koku Anyidoho, Founder and CEO of the Atta-Mills Institute, who was the Head of Communications and Presidential Spokesman for President Atta-Mills.
According to Nana Enifua III, “we have now decided that after 12 years, we shall no longer remain in the shadows and allow our glory to be trampled upon by any group of persons. The mother of the late President Atta-Mills was from the Odomna Ebusua of Asaman, with roots In Ekumfi Otuam, so let no one be deceived that late President hails from elsewhere. He was our son via maternal lineage/bloodline inheritance and no one can stop us from celebrating him” she said.
According to Ebusuapanyin Kobina Biney, the birthday commemoration is only the beginning; “the family is coming back on 23rd & 24th to really remember the 12th anniversary of the painful and inexplicable loss of our beloved late son” he said.
The family thanked Koku Anyidoho for bearing the cross of the family amidst insults and vile vilification – pledging their full support for him to keep the legacy of the late President alive.
On his part, Koku Anyidoho promised not to ever give up nor relent in giving lasting memory to the legacy of the late President.
“He was a very good man and I can’t stop appreciating what he did for me so no matter how heavy the cross is, I have chosen to carry it to the glory of God and country. I know that in this 12th year of the painful death of my political father, my cross shall land on Calvary for redemption/salvation to crown my determination and resilience” Koku said.
It would be recalled that Asomdwe Park was left in ruins/dirt/filth/disgrace by President John Dramani Mahama, and it was Koku Anyidoho who relentlessly appealed to President Akufo-Addo to build the Park and it was done and commissioned on Sunday, July 24, 2022, which marked the 10th anniversary of the death of the late President.
