77 Members of Parliament on the Minority side have signed a petition endorsing the appointment of Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam MP as the new leader of the Minority caucus.

According to the seventy-seven opposition lawmakers, the decision by the leadership of the NDC is a step in the right direction.

They argue the Ato Forson-led leadership will restore the confidence of the NDC grassroots and Ghanaians as a whole in the Minority caucus.

In a letter copied to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, the NDC’s General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey communicated the changes in its leadership.

The Ranking of Parliament’s Finance Committee, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson replaces Haruna Iddrisu as the Leader of the Minority Caucus.

The MP for Ellembelle, Armah Kofi Buah, has also been named the Deputy Minority Leader and replaces Ketu North MP, Dr James Klutse Avedzi.

Other significant changes include Asawase MP, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak who has been replaced by Adaklu MP Governs Kwame Agbodza.

Banda MP, Ahmed Ibrahim and Ada MP, Comfort Doyo-Ghansah have, however, maintained their positions as First and Second deputy Whips respectively.

Meanwhile, the Minority Caucus has summoned an emergency meeting on Thursday, January 25, 2023, to iron out the differences that have arisen after the appointment of the Oxford-trained new Minority Leader.

The National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia and the General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey will be attending the Thursday meeting which will affirm the choice of Dr Ato Forson as Minority Leader.
