The Vice-President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged Ghanaians to adopt a mindset of possibilities, unlocking their “can-do” spirit to drive economic growth and transformation.

The walk organized by the parliamentary candidate for Akuapim North, Samuel Awuku, was aimed at kick starting his campaign to win the Akuapim North parliamentary set and entrench the UP-tradition’s dominance in the constituency.

urged GhanaiansHe criticized the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for dismissing innovative proposals by the NPP, only to later turnaround to claim ownership when they succeed.

“We must develop a mindset of possibilities, generating ideas that will drive Ghana’s future economic fortunes,” he said. “Unlike our opponents in the NDC, who are myopic in ideas and think our ingenious proposals are impossible, we have proven them wrong. Today, the Free SHS we promised Ghanaians, which they vehemently opposed, is up and running. The drone distribution of medicines to hospitals is in full force. They [NDC] kicked against One-District One-Factory, and today it is working”, he noted.

Dr. Bawumia encouraged Ghanaians to shift their focus from limitations, a key character of the of the NDC, to possibilities, embracing innovation, creativity, and hard work. “When we believe in ourselves and our abilities, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve greatness”, he said.

urged GhanaiansThe Vice-President told the energetic crowd that the NPP will continue to think and initiate innovative ideas that will spur economic growth and bring prosperity to the people of Ghana, underscoring the future of Ghana’s energy needs.

The Vice-President announced plans to reduce energy cost by 50% through solar by adding 2000 megawatts of solar power to the country’s energy generation mix while also introducing electric transport systems to reduce public transport costs by 40%.

He also promised digital skills training for one million youth, a new tax policy, and simplified passport applications using the Ghana Card.

“With your Ghana Card, you won’t need to fill out a passport application form. Just pay the passport fee, and your passport will be printed since we already have your biometric details”, he said.

He concluded by urging Ghanaians to vote for him stating that he has a proven track record and a vision for Ghana’s future.

“Our opponent has only four years on the seat if you vote for him, but I have eight years. This means that after four years, I will come back to you to render accounts of my stewardship. So, good people of Ghana, I plead with you to vote for me, Dr. Bawumia, as Ghana’s President. Ghana needs a new president to change its fortunes.”

On his part, the parliamentary candidate for Akuapim North, Samuel Awuku, highlighted the significance of the 2024 elections, emphasizing the choice between progress and stagnation.

“Elections shape the future and carry profound implications,” he said. “A vote for the NDC is a vote for retrogression. The NDC will reverse the solidf oundations laid by the NPP, as has always been the case. We appreciate the difficulties Ghanaians are going through but trust Dr. Bawumia to turn things around by virtue of the ingenious policies he will introduce in the next government. Ghana is very lucky to have had the best pair of hands to manage the economy during this difficult situation orchestrated by COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war. Today, there are clear signs that the economy is bouncing back, and very soon, the economic recovery will be complete.” Mr Awuku touted.

Among the personalities that attended the walk were the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Stephen Ayesu Ntim; the Chairman of the Eastern Region NPP, Jeff Konadu; the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong; and the National Women’s Organiser, Kate Gyamfua.

Also in attendance were several parliamentary candidates, including Nana Osei Agyei, the parliamentary candidate for New Juaben North; Michael Okyere Baafi, the parliamentary candidate for New Juaben South and Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry; and Abena Osei Asare, Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.
