Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has urged voters to dismiss President Akufo-Addo’s attempts at damage control over the controversial “Agyapadie3” document.

According to him, the contents of the document are being realized under the current administration, indicating that its implementation is evident even if the President claims the document is fabricated.

On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo attempted to discredit the widely discussed document during an event at the Independence Square in Accra.

He shifted focus from commissioning earth-moving equipment to urging Ghanaians to disregard the “Agyapadie3” document and related commentaries.

In response to the President’s denial, former President Mahama stressed that his administration would hold the Akufo-Addo government accountable for the crises and hardships experienced in Ghana over the past eight years.

“Buying every state property, buying all the government lands, amassing wealth for themselves,” Mahama stated and emphasized that the actions outlined in the document have been implemented despite claims of fabrication.

Mahama further alleged that President Akufo-Addo’s reluctance to hand over power to him and the NDC stems from a fear of accountability.

He claimed that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) aims to have their Vice President succeed Akufo-Addo to shield them from scrutiny.

“The NDC is going to win the elections, and those who have made the people of Ghana suffer by misappropriating wealth and abusing their office will be held accountable,” Mahama assured.

Addressing the Ghanaian youth, Mahama warned against being deceived by the NPP and reiterated his commitment to honesty.

“Learn to tell the truth and tell the people what the reality is,” he stated, promising hard work and transparency if elected.

He also stressed the country’s substantial debt, noting that Ghana currently owes GH¢750 billion.

“You think that Nana Akufo-Addo, 80 years plus, is the one going to pay that debt? It is you, the young people here,” he said, urging all voters to participate in the upcoming elections on December 7th to bring change and accountability.

“We need to send them packing, and the way we can send them packing is that on December 7th, all of us must come out and exercise our franchise,” he stressed.
