Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged the media to collaborate with the next NPP administration in shaping Ghana’s future.

Dr. Bawumia underscored the importance of a strong partnership between the media and the government.

“The media plays an important role in the democratic process, and those seeking to govern our nation must be interested in partnering with the media to ensure accountability, dissemination of ideas, and critical scrutiny of public policy proposals,” he stated.

He reassured the press of the NPP’s commitment to upholding media freedoms and fostering an environment where the media can thrive as an essential pillar of democracy.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted the NPP’s historical support for media freedom, noting that it was under the party’s leadership that significant strides were made in repealing the criminal libel law and passing the Right to Information Act.

“We are partners with you, a partnership I will continue to keep as the new leader of the NPP,” he affirmed.

The Vice President also outlined his vision for Ghana’s future, focusing on economic growth, job creation, and business empowerment. He pointed to the NPP’s 2024 manifesto, which he described as a comprehensive plan to sustain the nation’s economic recovery and improve the livelihoods of all Ghanaians.

“In that manifesto, I have laid down comprehensive economic proposals to sustain the rebounding economy, reduce the cost of living, stabilize the currency, empower businesses, reform the tax administration, and deliver jobs,” he elaborated.

This, Dr. Bawumia called on the media to scrutinize the proposals and provide constructive feedback to ensure the policies align with the needs and expectations of Ghanaians.
