Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced an improvement in water supply for residents of Cape Coast, Elmina, and surrounding communities, thanks to efforts led by the Central Regional Security Council (REGSEC).

An update released by GWL’s Central Region management revealed that the Sekyere Hemang Water Treatment Plant, which serves these areas, has increased production from 1.98 million gallons per day to 2.77 million gallons per day.

This improvement follows a significant reduction in water turbidity at the plant, which dropped from an average of 14,000 NTU to 9,000 NTU.

The drop in turbidity has been attributed to the intervention of the Central Regional Security Council, headed by the Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan.

“We are grateful for the leadership and efforts of the Regional Security Council under Hon. Justina Marigold Assan, which have led to this improvement in water quality and supply,” GWL management stated.

GWL assured residents that further efforts are being made to enhance the quality of raw water at the treatment plant. The company promised periodic updates on any changes in water quality that might affect supply.

“As we work to improve the raw water source quality, we want to assure our cherished customers in Cape Coast, Elmina, and surrounding communities that every effort is being made to meet their water demand,” the statement added.

In the meantime, GWL has advised the public to use drinking water wisely while the region continues to stabilize its water supply.
