The Office of the Omanhene of the Kwahu Traditional Area has refuted claims that Kwahuhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, has been destooled.

The office has described recent video footage circulating on social media, allegedly depicting a destoolment ceremony, as false and in violation of Kwahu customs and legal standards.

In a statement dated October 19, 2024, the Kwahu Traditional Council clarified that no formal charges have been brought against the Kwahuhene to justify any such procedure. Additionally, there is no evidence of any misconduct on his part in his role as Chairman of the Board of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).

The Council emphasized that any suggestion of destoolment is baseless and should be dismissed by the public.

It also criticized those spreading the misleading video, particularly on social media platforms and WhatsApp groups, stating that the action was an attempt to undermine Kwahu’s heritage and tarnish the reputation of the Kwahuhene.

“No formal charges have ever been brought against the Kwahuhene that would justify any destoolment process.”

“The dissemination of this misleading video on social media and among known politicians constitutes an attack on the rich heritage and traditions of Kwahu,” the statement read.

The Council addressed Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II’s resignation from his role as Chairman of the ADB Board, revealing that the Banking Supervision Division of the Bank of Ghana had demanded his resignation without prior opportunity for him to respond to the allegations.

To allow for proper resolution, Daasebre voluntarily stepped aside from his role, but the Council expressed concern over the lack of due process in the matter.

The Council called on the people of Kwahu and subjects of the Esono Gyimah Mampong Agyei Stool to remain calm and steadfast in support of the Paramountcy in response to the false video circulating.

“We urge the good people of Kwahu to remain calm and steadfast in their support. The Kwahuhene reaffirms his dedication to serving Kwahuman and protecting the integrity of our heritage,” the statement added.
