The Overlord of Nandom, Prof Edmund Nminyem Delle Chiir VIII, has urged former President John Dramani Mahama to focus on national unity, self-reliance, and the eradication of corruption in a powerful endorsement ahead of the 2024 elections.
The chief extended his support during a gathering in Nandom, calling on Mahama to return to power and make the town a priority in his future administration.
Addressing Mahama directly, Naa Delle V remarked, “So, Mr. President, incoming, don’t forget Nandom. Do all you can to make Nandom your home. We shall welcome you anytime you come here.”
Naa Delle VIII emphasized the former president’s experience and leadership, urging him to use his knowledge to lead the nation effectively.
He said, “You are not a driver’s mate. You are the driver yourself. And experience is more than anything. You’ve gone through it.”
The Overlord of Nandom, reflecting on Mahama’s previous term in office, stressed the need for wisdom in leadership, especially in dealing with the pressing issues of national development and corruption.
“You are not a novice. We pray that God should give you that wisdom—the Wisdom of Solomon—so that Ghana will be a united country, Ghana will be a prosperous country,” he prayed
He expressed concern over Ghana’s economic challenges, particularly its reliance on external financial aid and stressed that Ghana should not be a country going around asking for loans.
Ghana, he said, should be self-reliant and expressed that under Mahama’s leadership, corruption would be tackled decisively adding, “The corruption which is killing us, I know in your government will not happen.”
