Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, has strongly refuted claims by Minority Chief Whip, Governs Kwame Agbodza, that he was smuggled into the Parliamentary Chamber ahead of Tuesday’s crucial sitting.

The allegations, made by Agbodza during an interview with Citi FM, suggested that Annoh-Dompreh had been granted unauthorized access to the Chamber by security personnel before the official opening time, in violation of Parliamentary protocol.

According to Agbodza, this breach occurred despite a circular issued by Parliament, stating that the Chamber would only be opened at 8:00 am on October 22.

However, Annoh-Dompreh swiftly denied these claims, explaining that he had simply arrived early, as is customary for him and entered the Chamber through regular means. Speaking in response to Agbodza’s accusations, Annoh-Dompreh detailed his version of events.

“I come to Parliament early, and I went to the Chamber. I was sitting there when they told me that they wanted to sweep the place, so I came out to stand here,” Annoh-Dompreh explained.

He also issued a warning to Agbodza, urging him to be cautious when making allegations. Annoh-Dompreh emphasized the importance of being meticulous in his role as Majority Chief Whip, ensuring that everything is in order before the start of parliamentary proceedings.

“There are lessons I need to teach him, he has to learn. He should be careful when making allegations,” Annoh-Dompreh said, adding, “It is my duty to be sure everything is well.”

In a more pointed comment, Annoh-Dompreh hinted at the strategic approach the Majority would adopt in dealing with their political rivals in Parliament, saying, “There are so many ways to kill the cat. We will do anything and everything to make sure that they do not walk over us.”

The heated exchanges between the two whips come at a critical moment for Parliament, as both the Majority and Minority struggle for dominance amid legal challenges over parliamentary seats.

The Speaker’s recent declaration of four seats as vacant and the subsequent Supreme Court intervention have left the balance of power in Parliament hanging in the air, creating a volatile environment.

The Majority Caucus, led by Annoh-Dompreh, remains determined to protect their side of the House and continue their work without being overshadowed by the Minority.
