He said Ghanaians appreciated the work of chiefs and other traditional leaders, so there was the need for them to lead in the effort to hold the country together even beyond the elections.

Mr Blay, who was addressing members of the outgoing NHC, in Kumasi, said chiefs held the key to the heart of the country and they should work to encourage their subjects to maintain the country’s peace.

The meeting created the platform for the GNPC to brief the traditional rulers of the various projects being implemented by the GNPC Foundation in various fields across the country.

Mr. Blay commended the chiefs for their support, which had helped the GNPC to undertake various developments that were helping to improve the lives of many people.

Dr. Dominic Kwasi Eduah, Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, said the company had implemented many initiatives in the fields of education, health and others, which were improving the lives of the people.

Dr. Kwame Karikari, Manager, GNPC Foundation, who made a presentation on the various projects, which had been implemented by the company, said the objective was to bridge the infrastructure deficit across the country.

He mentioned classroom blocks, science laboratories, dormitory blocks, petroleum faculty at the University of Mines and Technology, among others.

Dr Karikari said 8,000 artisans had been trained and sponsored to write their vocational examinations.

These initiatives were impacting the lives of many young people in the country.

He said about 37 AstroTurf had been constructed across the country.

Dr Karikari thanked the chiefs for their continued support, which had helped in the implementation of the projects in their traditional areas.
