Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has called on her constituents to rally and support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming December 7 elections.
She made the passionate appeal during a campaign meeting attended by the Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Irene Naa Torshie, who has been touring constituencies in Greater Accra.
Addressing the crowd, the MP emphasized the importance of voting for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the NPP’s presidential candidate to secure a brighter future for Ghanaians.
“A week from this coming Saturday, we are going to vote for the prosperous future of our children and grandchildren.”
“It is not only Bawumia that you are voting for, but you are also voting for yourself,” she stated
The Communication Minister stressed the achievements of the Akufo-Addo-led government, including Free SHS, road infrastructure, and the Agenda 111 hospital projects, urging voters not to be swayed by criticisms.
“We are all witnesses to the achievements of the NPP government. Every house in Ghana has benefited from the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia administration through Free SHS, and everyone here has walked or driven on the asphalted roads constructed by this government,” she stated.
Drawing on history, the MP warned against voter apathy, recounting the NPP’s loss in 2008 and the subsequent eight years of NDC rule.
“If we allow ourselves to be cajoled by statements that the country is difficult, we may repeat the disaster that befell Ghana in 2008 when the NPP followers failed to vote,” she cautioned.
Ursula also urged constituents to focus on progress and development stating, “Even if the NPP government is bad, it is better than an NDC government. We vote because of development and progress, and you will bear witness that the NPP has done a lot of work.”
She rallied support for Dr. Bawumia and encouraged voters to mobilize their families and communities.
“Talk to your children, brothers, sisters, and friends. Let them know the importance of this election. By voting for the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, you are securing Ghana’s future,” she stated.
The MP asked for prayers for the NPP and Dr. Bawumia saying, “Widows, when you cry to God, He listens. Remember the NPP in your prayers because the one God has ordained to become president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will be declared victorious.”
The Ablekuma West MP also expressed optimism about her re-election, saying, “By December 8, when you support NPP, the Electoral Commission will declare Ursula Owusu as the parliamentary candidate in this constituency.”
