The Ministry of the Interior has announced the immediate temporary closure of all land borders.
The move, according to the Ministry, is to safeguard the integrity of tomorrow’s General Elections.
The measure, effective from today, December 6, 2024, will remain in place until 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
A release by the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Henry Quartey, emphasized the importance of this directive in maintaining order during the electoral process.
“The closure of our land borders is a necessary step to ensure that we conduct peaceful and credible elections.”
“We call on all citizens, as well as travelers entering or exiting Ghana, to cooperate fully with our State Security Agencies as they implement this measure,” the statement read.
The Ministry assured the public that this move was taken in the national interest to curb any potential threats to the country’s electoral integrity.
