Provisional results from Ghana’s Electoral Commission reveal a major upset in the Tano South Constituency, Ahafo Region.
The incumbent Member of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere, has decisively lost his seat to Charles Asiedu, the candidate from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Charles Asiedu, son of NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, won with a commanding 20,595 votes, while Sekyere managed only 18,697.
This victory marks a significant milestone for the younger Asiedu, who is rapidly establishing himself as a force within the party.
Mr. Asiedu brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has served as Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Organizer and as the immediate past Ahafo Regional Organizer for the NDC.
Additionally, he played a pivotal role as National Campaign Coordinator in Dr. Hanna Bisiw’s successful bids for National Women’s Organizer in 2018 and 2022.
A well-educated professional, Mr. Asiedu holds a Master of Arts in Organisational Leadership and Governance from the University of Ghana Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ). He also earned a certificate in Political Leadership and Party Organisation from the NDC’s Ghana Institute of Social Democracy.
