President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has firmly expressed commitment to a smooth transition and anticipates productive collaboration with President-elect Mahama and his team.
In a statement by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications, the President congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory in the December 7, 2024, presidential election.
The commendation came immediately after the Electoral Commission, led by Chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa, declared Mahama as the winner.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized his commitment to executing a smooth and efficient transfer of power on January 7, 2025, and looks forward to collaborating closely with the incoming administration to ensure a seamless transition.
The outgoing president praised the Electoral Commission for conducting a credible and peaceful election—an accomplishment that affirms the resilience and strength of Ghana’s democratic institutions. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders whose unwavering dedication guaranteed a transparent and fair electoral process.
President Akufo-Addo also called for national unity, urging Ghanaians to come together to consolidate democracy and uphold the rule of law. In a gesture of goodwill, he invited President-elect Mahama to Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, to initiate the transition process.
