The platform is to enhance teaching and learning for basic school pupils and teachers, especially those in the rural communities.

The new Asanka learning platform according to, Mr. Kafui Prebbie, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TECHAiDE Global aligns with the Ghana Education Service (GES) curriculum; and is very accessible for people with visual or hearing impairments.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, Mr. Pebbie said, the real meaning of Asanka which translates in Ghanaian local language as ‘pot’ literally stands for “All Subjects And New Knowledge Access” (a digital pot that has contents for teaching and learning).

He said that the Asanka platform has all the curriculum that is required for teaching and learning specifically for basic schools.

The platform which does not require internet connectivity, Mr. Pebbie noted, is designed to help the about 70 per cent of students at the basic school level in the rural areas who have difficulties in accessing digital learning due to the lack of internet connectivity.

The Asanka device which was embraced in many homes by many parents for their children during the COVID-19 lockdown, the CEO noted, is now upgraded to provide a more practical learning and teaching experiences that fit into the national academic programme.

He said the device now provides opportunity for parents and teachers to track or monitor the academic progress of the learners even if they are offline.

“What makes Asanka different from other learning platforms is that Asanka device does not require the use of internet; pupils’ progress can be tracked either on tablet or computer; it is tied directly to the national curriculum; it is practical; and contains videos and other learning materials for learners as approved by the GES”.

Mr. Pebbie hinted that TECHAiDE Global is poised to provide contents for the Senior High School students in the near future.

The CEO of TECHAiDE Global further hinted that his organisation has the master plan to have their footprint in all over the continent of Africa and the entire world as they are already in the Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

On his part, Nana Gyamfi Adwabour, Patron of TECHAiDE and Executive Director for CENDLOS pledged the support of his outfit and other stakeholders to ensure that the Asanka device goes far to benefit more schools.

He said that the next workforce that the world is waiting for is going to come from Africa, which has over 70 per cent of its population below the ages of 30, who have a strong appetite for digital tools.

Nana Gyamfi Adwabour therefore challenged TECHAiDE to come out with more innovations and digital solutions for the kindergartens, primary schools, senior high schools and the tertiaries.

He called for strong collaboration between all the players in the tech  learning ecosystem to avoid duplication of innovations, programmes, contents and waste of resources.

Meanwhile, as part of its Education Innovation Labs (EDNOLABS) project, TECHAiDE Global recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its partners to provide easy access to digital educational contents for students and teachers in some underserved communities in Ghana.

The partners included: the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, CAMFED, IMPLEMENTERS, UNICEF, Helping Africa Foundation, Mest Africa and CENDLOS.

The EDNOLABS project aimed to conduct evidence-based research to enhance education in Ghana, aiming to reach over 10,000 students and train more than 1,900 teachers; and establish 20 modern education labs equipped with offline ASANKA technology across 12 regions in Ghana and providing innovative learning environments.
