The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has refuted information in the public that the Authority is auctioning vehicles.
“We wish to inform the general public that the notice circulating in the public domain is fake,” the Authority said in a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency.
The statement said GRA had sighted a fake media release on a vehicle auction dated December 3, 2024, purported to be coming from the Commissioner-General of the GRA.
The fake media release bears the signature of the former Commissioner-General, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, but has the name of the current Commissioner-General, Madam Julie Essiam.
It said there were standard procedures for the auction of vehicles and goods by the Customs Division of GRA.
The statement noted that the process of auctioning vehicles did not involve payment of a registration fee.
It cautioned the public not to make payment to any person or group of persons via any means provided in the fake media release.
“We urge the public to be vigilant and verify information before participating in any GRA auction,” it said.
