National House of Chiefs congratulates President elect on his victory

Members of the National House of Chiefs (NHC) have congratulated Mr John Dramani Mahama, the President-elect, on his victory in the December 7, 2024 elections.

The House also congratulated Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, the Vice President-elect on her victory.

A statement jointly signed by Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the House, and Mr Stephen Owusu, Public Relations Officer, and issued in Kumasi, expressed happiness over the successful conduct of the elections.

“Please accept our warmest congratulations on your decisive victory and our best wishes for your success as you prepare to take up the responsibilities and challenges of the high office of President of Ghana.

The statement also congratulated Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flag-bearer of the NPP in the December elections for his timeous concession and reconciliatory message.

The House also congratulated all elected Members of Parliament in the elections, the other unsuccessful presidential and parliamentary candidates for their understanding and demonstration of maturity resulting in the peaceful conduct of the elections.

The House, again, commended the Electoral Commission (EC), the Peace Council, Media, Diplomatic community, security agencies, the clergy and religious groups as well as all key stakeholders, including the domestic and international election observers for their collective efforts in achieving a fair, and generally peaceful elections.

“We also want to congratulate fellow compatriots, the good people of Ghana for their contribution to the peaceful elections.

In deed you all have done Ghana proud and have demonstrated further conviction in our democratic credentials as a beacon of hope in Africa.

It is proud to be a Ghanaian, the Black Star of Africa”.

The statement pledged the support and highest cooperation of chiefs in the administration of the President-elect.
