Honourable Rachel Appoh, the former Deputy Minister of Gender and Children Protection, has congratulated the National Democratic Congress for their victory in the 2024 general elections.
According to her, the party’s overwhelming victory is as a product of the unified forces of the great NDC.
In a message shared via her social media pages, the former Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central in the Central Region hailed John Dramani Mahama and Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for their victory in the December 7 polls.
Honourable Appoh commended John Mahama for the outstanding leadership displayed during the campaign period, noting that his commitment to serving Ghanaians is inspiring, infectious and worth emulating.
She stated that the dedication and commitment shown by the entire party machinery in the 2024 elections should be extended into the governance of the country.
The former Gomoa Central Legislator believes that a replication of the drive and determination in the governance of the country will result in the NDC performing outstandingly as the best government under the Fourth Republic.
“I extend my warmest congratulations to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, former President and President-Elect, and Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the first female Vice President-Elect. Your leadership and dedication to the people of Ghana are truly inspiring.
“Furthermore, I appreciate the hard work and dedication of the regional executives, constituency executives, branch executives, and the entire NDC party sympathizers of Gomoa Central. Your tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed,” parts of her statement read.
Honourable Appoh also congratulated Kwame Deen Yawson, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Gomoa Central, acknowledging the sacrifices and hard work he showed during the campaign.
Kwame Asare Obeng, the MP-elect for the area, also received warm words from Honourable Appoh, who congratulated him for winning the polls as an independent candidate.
“I also want to express my gratitude to Hon. Kwame Deen Yawson, the Parliamentary Candidate for Gomoa Central. Although the outcome wasn’t in your favor, I appreciate your efforts and wish you better luck next time. I also congratulate Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng for winning the Gomoa Central seat.”
Despite multiple misfortunes that hit her in the run-up to the elections, Madam Appoh still managed to campaign actively for the party across the country, particularly in the Gomoa Central constituency.
It may be recalled that Honourable Appoh was involved in two separate motor accidents that prevented her from contesting the primaries of the NDC.
Despite these setbacks, Rachel Appoh was deeply involved in the NDC campaign and wooed many voters in the Central Region for John Dramani Mahama.
In her post on Facebook, Rachel Appoh expressed gratitude to her family and close associates who were instrumental in her recovery and survival from the accidents.
In the 2024 presidential race, former President Mahama, who was the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, won the race according to the results declared by the Electoral Commission. He beat 12 other candidates with 56.55% of the total valid votes.
His closest contender, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party, obtained 41.61% of the total valid votes cast.
The NDC has claimed more than a two-thirds majority of the results already declared in the parliamentary race, having won over 180 seats out of 276 available for grabs.
