A police source told the Ghana News Agency that the suspect, Stephen Alartey, was said to have used cement block to hit both the wife and his daughter’s heads till they gave up their ghosts and bolted away.

According to the police source, on Thursday December 12, 2024,  Alartey allegedly asked the wife, Aku Motso, 37 years, and three children who were all staying with their grandmother at Agona Kwaman to come and stay with him at Esaase near Bobikuma.

The police source hinted that on their way to the  Esaase village, the suspect used a different route instead of the old bush path many people used it to their various destinations.

The source said on reaching the middle portion of the road, the suspect took a cement block and hit the wife and the daughter, Ophelia Alartey  7 years, killing them on the spot.

According to the source, a hunter who heard the noise and screaming appeared at the scene all of sudden and the suspect asked the hunter to lead him to the police station to report.

The source hinted that the hunter asked the suspect to take the lead for him to follow but Alartey refused and rather coerced the hunter to take the lead.

Later, Alerty was said to have found another cement block on the road side and used it to hit  the hunter on the head when he fell unconscious, Alartey used his cutlass to slash his head, leaving a deep cut, took the hunter’s gun and bolted.

The hunter was later taken to the hospital and currently receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, two of Alartey’s  children, who saw the incident unfolded, ran back to the town to report the case and the police rushed to the scene.

The source said the suspect was at large and the Bobikuma Police is seeking for information on his whereabouts.

The bodies of the two have been deposited at the Agona Swedru Municipal Government hospital for autopsy.
