A total of 280 members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Agona West Constituency of the Central Region have been sacked from the party for breaking party allegiance.

Among the dismissed members is the incumbent Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, who broke away from the party to contest the 2024 parliamentary election as an independent candidate.

The 279 others are members of the party who supported Cynthia Morrison’s candidacy and therefore the dismissal is in line with the party’s rules on breaking allegiance.

Their dismissals were communicated in a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the NPP and signed by the constituency chairman, Alhaji Gibrine Tanko.

The letter formally notified the expelled members and the national office of the NPP that they are no longer recognised as members of the party and are barred from holding party positions, participating in party activities, or using its symbols and flag.
