President-elect John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to fostering unity and strengthening regional ties following strategic high-level meetings with the Presidents of Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Gabon.

The engagements are part of his broader diplomatic efforts to deepen collaboration in trade, security, and sustainable development, following his decisive victory in Ghana’s December 7 presidential election.

Mahama shared the engagements on his social media platforms.

“I just wrapped up an incredible visit with the Presidents of Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Gabon as part of my commitment to fostering strong relationships with our geographical neighbours and friends across West Africa and the continent,”

The President-elect stressed shared aspirations for progress and emphasized the importance of partnerships prioritising citizens’ well-being.

“Our discussions reaffirmed our common values and explored opportunities for collaboration in areas such as trade, security, and sustainable development.

These regional ties aim to deliver tangible benefits to our people,” he added.

Mahama also reiterated his dedication to expanding Ghana’s influence within West Africa and the broader African continent. “I will continue to work tirelessly, both within and outside our subregion, to create a brighter, more prosperous future for our youth and the vulnerable,” he affirmed.

John Dramani Mahama emerged victorious in Ghana’s 2024 presidential race, securing 6,328,397 votes (56.55%) to defeat his closest rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 4,657,304 votes (41.61%).

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) also achieved a commanding majority in Parliament, solidifying its mandate to govern.

These developments signal a renewed commitment by the incoming administration to strengthen regional cooperation and address key challenges facing Ghana and its neighbours.
