Honorable Alexander Akwasi Acquah, Member of Parliament for Akyem Odaa, has dropped a bombshell about the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) decision to choose John Mahama as their flagbearer in the 2024 poll.
According to Acquah, some of his friends in Parliament from the NDC confessed that Mahama wasn’t the best choice, but his wealth ultimately sealed the deal.
Acquah shared this insight during an interview with Captain Koda on Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s morning show, Nyansapo on Friday January 17,2025.
“Apparently, most NDC MPs were rooting for other candidates, but Mahama’s financial muscle made him the top pick”, he said
Interestingly, Acquah’s comments came after he was asked about the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) decision to support Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia during their primaries.
Acquah explained that NPP MPs chose Bawumia because they believed he was the best person to lead the party at the time.
This contrasts sharply with the NDC’s decision, which Acquah claims was influenced by Mahama’s wealth.
