Accra Academy has reportedly handed over a student captured in a viral video flogging his colleagues with a machete to the police for investigation.
The disturbing video, which surfaced recently, shows a student wielding a machete and flogging two of his colleagues.
In a statement issued by the school, the perpetrators have been identified as final-year students Haleem Jibril, Ahmed Dauda, and Richard Ninsin, along with first-year student Shadad Aliu.
The victims, all first-year students, have been named as Samuel Ussher, Kingsford Quayson, Stephen Oteng, and Dominic Awuku Adjei.
According to the school, a preliminary investigation revealed that the machete used in the incident was brought from home and not taken from school premises.
“The matter is still under investigation by the school’s disciplinary committee, and all stakeholders will be informed of the outcome accordingly,” the statement posted on the Accra Academy X page read.
The school further disclosed that all students involved have been identified as day students and have been asked to stay away from school pending further investigations.
Additionally, the management revealed that the incident took place on December 17, 2024, but was not reported to school authorities until the video surfaced on social media.
The statement also confirmed that the parents of the students involved have been contacted, with some already responding and providing statements.
