Shippers’ Councils of Ghana’s Landlocked Neighbours Call on GSA CEO

Representatives of the Shippers’ Councils of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), Prof. Ransford Gyampo, to congratulate him on his appointment to lead the organization.

During their visit on Friday, 28th February 2025, the representatives, who spoke on behalf of the Heads of their respective Shippers’ Councils reaffirmed their commitment to the strong relationship built with the GSA over the years and pledged to work closely with Prof. Gyampo to further strengthen ties.

 

They expressed their commitment to enhancing transit trade for the mutual benefit of Ghana and their countries.

 

The representative of the Burkina Faso Shippers’ Council (CBC) in Ghana, Ms. Denise Bado Bouba said, “We have had a long-standing relationship with the GSA, and we want to maintain and strengthen this bond. We wish you well and believe you will be successful in promoting the interests of shippers.”

 

Prof. Gyampo, in response, expressed his gratitude to the representatives for the visit and assured the delegation of his belief in continuity, and in that regard, his resolve to continue the good work of his predecessors to deepen the existing relationships.

 

He emphasised his commitment to fostering a productive partnership to facilitate a conducive trade environment for the benefit of both shippers and the economies of Ghana and her Sahelian neighbours.

 

“We must engage in discussions on issues of mutual concern to find solutions together. While my priority is to protect Ghana’s interests, I also recognise the importance of supporting our trade partners. Strengthening collaboration will enable us to make significant progress.”

 

He further added, “We need to work together to fulfil our mandates. As neighbouring countries, it is crucial that we support each other to drive economic growth.”

 

The representatives of the Shippers’ Councils expressed their appreciation for the warm reception and looked forward to many more years of fruitful partnership with the GSA.
