Residents of Legon and Dansoman are calling on the Mahama administration to complete the stalled Agenda 111 hospital projects, which were initiated under the Akufo-Addo government.
Their concerns follow President John Dramani Mahama’s first State of the Nation Address where he stated that none of the Agenda 111 projects are operational. Reports estimate that approximately $1.7 billion is required to complete them.
A visit by Channel One News to some project sites revealed that construction has either stalled or is at a very early stage.
At New Legon in the Adentan Municipality, sand, gravel, and construction equipment were spotted at the site, but work remains on hold due to an ongoing audit.
The contractor was absent, and the project has seen no progress since the change in government.
Similarly, at Dansoman, within the premises of Ebenezer Senior High School, construction remains halted, with the foundation yet to be completed.
Local residents have expressed their disappointment and urged the government to prioritize the completion of the projects.
“It will be good if the government completes it for us,” said Aaron Oware Preko, a resident of Dansoman.
Another resident, Francis Macleen, added, “We were excited about the project, but the NPP government couldn’t complete it. We appeal to the new President to ensure it is completed.”
With the 2025 budget set to be presented on March 11, many Ghanaians are eager to see whether the government will allocate funds to revive the Agenda 111 projects.
