He acknowledged the overwhelming show of love and encouragement from well-wishers in Ghana and beyond, particularly in the past 24 hours.

Dr. Dampare extended his appreciation to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointing him as the Inspector General of Police, a position that made him the youngest IGP in the Fourth Republic.

He also expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the cordial working relationship they shared during their brief time together.

The former IGP further acknowledged the prayers, wisdom, and counsel from religious and traditional leaders, as well as the collaboration and support from the heads of sister security agencies. He also appreciated the constructive input and encouragement from various civil society organizations.

Additionally, he thanked the international community and diplomatic missions for their support, engagement, and feedback throughout his leadership.

Reflecting on his 35-year career in the Ghana Police Service, Dr. Dampare expressed his appreciation for rising from a General Constable to Inspector General of Police, holding the distinction of being the youngest Commissioner of Police and IGP in the Fourth Republic.

He extended his gratitude to the Police Management Board (POMAB) and all officers of the service for their dedication and wished them well.

Dr. Dampare reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to Ghana, stating that at nearly 55 years old, he remains energetic, disciplined, and dedicated to serving his country with honor and integrity.

The statement was signed by his Executive Assistant, Nana Osei Afrifa.
