Over 400 street children were fed on Saturday, April 5, 2025, during a street food share organized by Seven Sparks at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and the Arts Centre, Accra.
The initiative, led by a passionate returnee to Ghana, sought to bring hope, and love to some of the city’s most vulnerable.
The outreach was not just about food, it was a symbol of compassion and a reminder that those living on the margins are not forgotten. The man behind the initiative, Seven Sparks, said his inspiration came from the daily encounters with people begging for food, water, and clothes since his return to Ghana.
“I love to give back to people because I believe in giving more than receiving. I’ve already received from God, so it puts a smile on my face to give to those in need,” he shared. “Since I came to Ghana, I’ve seen people struggle to meet even the basic necessities. I knew I couldn’t help everyone, but I could at least feed as many street children as possible in the areas I could reach.”
To make this dream a reality, he launched a GoFundMe campaign, calling on friends and supporters in the United States to help raise funds. But for him, the mission goes beyond charity, it’s deeply personal. “My ancestors were taken from Ghana through slavery, so coming back feels like returning home. This is my way of saying thank you for the warm welcome.”
Children were at the heart of the drive. “I focused on them because they are helpless. They can’t fend for themselves, and I have a soft spot for children. This isn’t a one-time event, it’s going to happen again,” he promised.
Among the beneficiaries was young Ali, who lives on the street of Kwame Nkrumah Circle. With a wide smile, he expressed his gratitude. “This is the first time my friends and I have received food donations from people. I’m very grateful to Seven Sparks.”
Volunteers also found meaning in their service. Yaa, one of the young women who helped distribute meals, said the experience was both humbling and fulfilling. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to help feed these children. I will gladly join anytime another one is organized.”
As the food share ended, what remained was not just the scent of warm meals but the lasting impact of human kindness. Seven Sparks’ message to the street dwellers was clear, “You are not forgotten. Life is difficult for a lot of people, but never lose hope. Believe in God, anything can happen at any time.”
In a city where thousands live without assurance of their next meal, this simple act of generosity has sparked hope.
