A Cape Coast Circuit Court has remanded the Communications Officer of the Central Regional main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwasi Dawood, into prison custody in an alleged case of incest.

The decision of the Court presided over by Her Honour Dorinda Smith Arthur follows an earlier report that Mr. Dawood was granted a GH¢30,000 bail with two sureties to be justified

The NDC Communicator who has been charged with abetment of crime – illegal abortion and incest and will reappear in court in two weeks.

The prosecutor, ASP Daniel Gadzo Mensah told the court that Mr. Dawood, who is the biological father of the victim, allegedly impregnated her through an incestuous affair.

The accused person, according to the prosecutor, then conspired with a medical doctor to perform an illegal abortion on the victim.

The girl then confided in her mother and proceeded to lodge a complaint with the Swedru District police. The case was later transferred to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Cape Coast.

Mr. Dawood, who has pleaded not guilty, issued a statement denying the allegations levelled against him when the news broke.

Mr. Dawood said in a statement: “I wish to state unequivocally that the said publication is a false and malicious fabrication,” and hinted at filing a defamation suit against the Daily Guide, which first published the report.
