The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has issued an ultimatum to the government, demanding immediate implementation of a long-delayed unique salary structure and improved conditions of service for its members.

In a statement issued following an Emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, the Association warned that failure to implement the agreed-upon terms by Monday, June 30, 2025, would compel them to embark on a nationwide strike.

The NEC referred to previous correspondences, including letters dated 20th December 2024 and 6th May 2025, as well as several Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) signed with the government, which they say have not been honoured.

“We have waited in good faith for the government to honour its commitment. The continued silence and inaction are unacceptable. The pressure from our members is mounting daily, and the government must act now,” said Dr. Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG.

According to the Association, the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment bears the direct responsibility for ensuring the prompt implementation of the new salary structure and improved working conditions.

“The Minister must not only take this seriously but also ensure that civil and local government workers are treated fairly and equitably,” Dr. Bampoe Addo stressed.

The NEC further stated that the two-week deadline – from Monday, June 16 to Monday, June 30 — is non-negotiable.

“If by June 30th we do not receive a positive response, we shall have no other option but to activate a nationwide strike,” the NEC warned.

The statement also emphasized that the planned industrial action would be comprehensive and indefinite until the government fully implements the agreed conditions.
