EC Chairperson to appear before Parliament next week

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Jean Mensa, is expected to appear before the Committee of the Whole in Parliament next week. Her appearance is to respond to urgent questions posed by members of the House.

This was announced by the Majority Leader and Chairman of the Business Committee, Mr. Mahama Ayariga, during the presentation of the Business Statement for the fourth week of June, ending Friday, June 20, 2025.

Tten Ministers of State are also scheduled to appear before the House. They include:

  • Mr. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei – Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources
  • Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor – Minister of Energy and Green Transition
  • Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad – Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation
  • Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah – Minister of Lands and Natural Resources
  • Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Minister of Foreign Affairs
  • Madam Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare – Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry

On Wednesday, June 18, Mr. Kenneth Adjei is scheduled to brief Parliament on the recent nationwide flooding and outline measures being taken to mitigate its impact and prevent future disasters.

Under Order 97 of the Standing Orders of Parliament, Ministers may also lay papers, present reports from Committees, and deliver policy statements on behalf of the government.

Furthermore, the Business Committee anticipates debates on motions with their consequential resolutions during the week.

Mr. Ayariga also hinted that the mid-year budget review is expected to be presented to Parliament in July, subject to final confirmation.
