The Ministry of Education has pledged to complete outstanding works and operationalize E-Block Community Day Senior High Schools under construction across the country
It gave assurance of its commitment to promote the development of education in the country to enhance access to quality education.
The assurance follows discussions regarding E-Blocks at Agblekpui and Aflao in the Ketu-South District of the Volta Region.
The chiefs of these areas have expressed displeasure at the continued delay to complete the projects and commission them for students to occupy, which caused some media frenzy.
Providing background to the construction work in Ketu South, the Education Ministry in a statement indicated it awarded the Contract (LOT NO. CSHSP/P.11/VR03) to Messrs. Globacom Limited in 2015 to construct 1 No. 4 – Storey 24 – Unit Classroom Block with Science Laboratories and Toilet facilities (E-Block) and Ancillary External Works at a Contract Sum of GH₵8,030,372.15.
“The site was handed over to the Contractor for works to commence on 14th July 2015 for completion on 14th October 2016. The Construction Supervision Consultant is Lamda Consult Limited.”
“Currently, the project is about 96% complete. The outstanding works include final painting and clearing of the site,” the statement said.
According to the Ministry, it is currently working assiduously to resolve an issue between the Consultant and the Contractor on the IPC submitted on 31st August 2017.
Seven IPCs, it said, have so far been submitted to cover various levels of work done.
