Hordes of sympathizers are supposed to attend the occasion. Family sources told the Daily Searchlight that the date for his final funeral rites would be made known at the 40th day celebrations. Nana Kwame Ampadu 1 was a royal from the Asona Royal family of Obo Kwahu.

The source told the Daily Searchlight that per Akan custom, if a royal dies, the normal weekly celebration is waived in favour of the 40th day celebration.

The sources explained that the family members have been meeting over the celebration over the past few weeks.

Meanwhile it has been rumoured that Nana Ampadu may be given a STATE FUNERAL but his burial will consequently take place at Obo Kwahu.

Nana Ampadu I, over his more than seventy years, was a Musician, Playwright, Storyteller, Writer, Dramatist, Counselor, Guitarist, Teacher, Evangelist, etc. He composed about 800 songs, with about 500 unproduced ones. He also composed gospel songs in addition to circular highlife songs. His name is in the Guinness Books of Records as the MOST PROLIFIC song writer, singer and composer in Africa.

He married 5 women with 13 children. One of his children is continuing his good works with father’s band.

Meanwhile, the Daily Searchlight has learned that Nana Ampadu suffered from brain tumor.

Family sources denied suggestions that government neglected Nana during his difficult times.

“In fact Nana Addo wanted to send him outside Ghana for medicals but his doctor kicked against it. The reason being that his condition was irreparable and untreatable,” the source said.
