The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin has declared the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Caucus, majority in the 8th Parliament
This according to the Speaker was based on an official indication from the Independent MP for Fomena; that he will ‘associate’ with the NPP in Parliament.
“…you have the New Patriotic Party wing or caucus in Parliament together with the independent Member of Parliament from Fomena, and they now constitute the Majority group” the Speaker declared.
Speaker Alban Bagbin went further to indicate that “whatever he said outside was of no effect so far as the business of the house is concerned, and therefore he had to do it officially for it to be read and captured in the Hansard”
Jubilation
Immediately after the Speaker’s declaration, the NPP MPs all dressed in white jumped up in jubilation, chanting songs of praise.
Finality At Last
This declaration from the Speaker will bring to an end the back and forth argument and debate over who constitutes the majority.
