Community-based radio station, Radio Ada in the Greater Accra Region, has been cautioned to desist from airing programmes that cause tension within the Ada community.

The Ada Traditional Council issued the warning at a press conference by the Chiefs and Queens led by the Paramount Chief, Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

The Council condemned the attack on the radio station and tasked the Police to expedite investigations and bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book.

Mankralo of the Ada State, Nene Agudey Obiahere III who addressed the press on behalf of the Traditional Council said though Radio Ada has been broadcasting content without recourse to the tenets of the journalism profession, there is no justification whatsoever for an attack on the station in retaliation.

“The Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area and President of the Ada Traditional Council sympathizes with the station and condemns the act in its entirety.”

“We call on all to cooperate with the Police and assist in investigations when the need arises so that the perpetrators will be brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others.

“While we wait for the outcome of the investigations, we wish to caution Radio Ada to desist from airing programmes and making statements that stir up tensions in our peaceful communities,” he added.

The Council also called on the National Media Commission (NMC) to as a matter of urgency take the necessary actions to curtail the excesses of the radio station.

It charged the industry regulator to put measures in place to make sure the radio station adheres to good journalism practices.
