The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has come under serious public backlash on social media after a revelation that the party would have taxed every single electronic transaction (uniform e-transaction fee) if they had won the 2020 elections.

At page 99 of the NDC’s People’s Manifesto 2020 under the sub-heading, Financial Inclusion and Electronic Payments, the NDC stated that it will “introduce a uniform transaction fee policy to guide the electronic payments industry”.

This revelation has resulted in discussion on social media with thousands of Ghanaians expressing their disgust at the NDC for their sudden turn-around to oppose the E-Levy which is being introduced by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

#Page99 which is the number one trending hashtag on Twitter has seen thousands of Ghanaians airing their disappointment at the NDC for what appears to be a massive deception by the opposition party.

Is John Mahama and his NDC against the E-Levy because they want to hurt the youths who are expecting YouStart to give them a start in life and work opportunities? #Page99 pic.twitter.com/4UkJwxeFX4

Now we are being told that when a government introduces and imposes a uniform fee on all your electronic transactions it is not asking you to pay extra taxes but extra fees. As if fees are paid with prayers. #Page99
