Nigerian fans attacked Ghanaians at Abuja’s Moshood Abiola Stadium on Tuesday after the Black Stars qualified for the World Cup finals in Qatar.
The Nigerian fans, disgruntled by the 1-1 tie that ruined the Super Eagles World Cup ambitions, stormed the field and sparked a riot and reportedly smashed the Super Eagles’ technical bench and other equipment.
Security agents had to fire tear gas to disperse the angry crowd.

A small group of Ghanaians that made their way to the stadium were also reportedly attacked by the enraged supporters but were rescued by the security who took them to the Black Stars dressing room.
The first leg of the 2022 World Cup playoff ended 0-0 in Kumasi but Ghana pipped Nigeria on the away goal rule after the scoring draw in Abuja, which was enough to secure their place in Qatar.
