Okaikwei North Assembly PM Takes Office

The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has in a unanimous decision retained its first Presiding Member (PM) for the third time.

Abdullah Nii Ofai was third time lucky when he secured hundred percent of total votes cast in an election which renewed his mandate for the next two years.

Nii Ofai, 67, since 2018 has been the presiding member of the Assembly.

He took the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy administered by the Municipal Magistrate, Adwoa Achama Ofosu.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony in Accra, Nii Ofai said his target for this tenure is to fight insanitary conditions in the Municipality.

He insisted that the Assembly will leave no stone unturned to bring the canker of indiscriminate dumping of refuse under control.

Nii Ofai said the situation is dire even as the country is entering the raining season.

The ONMA PM explained while thanking the Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in him that revenue mobilization which is the backbone of the Assembly is another issue of priority on his radar.

He said the Assembly will embark on a rigorous exercise to increase the revenue mobilization drive of the Assembly.

Nii Ofai indicated that street hawking, unlawful parking of vehicles by drivers will also be tackled to restore sanity in the Municipality.

He noted that Ghana will be a better place if the citizens and all duty bearer play their part urging the media to help the Assembly members to execute their mandate.

Present at the ceremony were the Mr. Boye Laryea, the Municipal Chief Executive, (MCE) Mr. Benjamin Ayikwei Armah, the Municipal Coordinator, Mr Rexford Frimpong, the Personal Assistant to the MCE, Heads of Departments and the Assembly Members.
