The Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) has donated food items and an unspecified amount of money to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu at his residence in New Fadama.
The donation forms part of the bank’s support to the Muslim community as they begin the holy month of Ramadan fasting.
The items comprised 40 bags of rice and 40 bags of brown sugar.
Presenting the items to the Chief Imam, Deputy Managing Director of the bank, Alhaji Hassan Yakubu Tale who stood in for the MD, John Kofi Mensah noted that fasting in the month of Ramadan is one of the five fundamental pillars of Islam.
He said, “It is a period of spiritual upliftment through intensive prayers including Tahajjud (midnight prayers).”
“Ramadan is also a month where Muslims across the globe intensify existing practice of almsgiving, feeding of the poor and the needy, with the hope of gaining Allah’s mercy and blessings.
ADB, he said, is making the presentation as part of its CSR activities to associate with the holy month of Ramadan.
He indicated that the bank will also make similar donations to other selected outfits as Ramadan support.
He urged all Muslims and Ghanaians, in general, to continue to observe the COVID-19 health protocols and continue to seek the intervention of the almighty Allah to rescue the world from the pandemic.
Alhaji Hassan Yakubu was accompanied by a delegation made up of the General manager in charge of operations, Benjamin Donkor; Chief finance officer, Leon Bannerman; treasurer, Bridget; Head of marketing and communications, Solomon Amedor and Mohammed Ali also from the marketing and communications department.
They were accompanied by Mr Osman Ali who liaised with the Chief Imam’s office and ADB.
Receiving the items, the Chief Imam expressed gratitude for the gesture and prayed for the continuous growth of the bank.
He indicated that God has favoured ADB with his blessings and that is manifesting in how the bank fulfils its corporate social responsibility.
He said when God blesses anyone with wealth, the person or institution is expected to spend that wealth consistent with the spirit of the Creator.
“If you expend it at the appropriate quarters it is an indication of gratefulness to God. That is why any wealth spent in the way of Allah, He refers to it as a loan.”
ADB’s visit, the Chief Imam said, is a sign of God’s favour and that when He selects someone for his favour and the persons fail to fulfil it, He turns the favour into punishment.
According to him, God has showered his favours on ADB and the bank has expressed its gratitude to the Creator by its kind gesture in this great month of Ramadan.”
A month in which the Holy Quran was revealed and the Quran as revealed is also a source of blessing from God and one of the greatest miracles He did by mankind.”
“We are very grateful to you. We have nothing to pay you back in equal measure but to pray for continued success and growth of ADB,” he added.
