Information reaching the Ghanaian Publisher newspaper indicates that some highly-connected Chinese nationals operating companies in the country have virtually taken over Cantonments lands around the AU Village in Accra.
These Chinese nationals have reportedly attacked owners of these lands using armed land guards and thugs believed to be of Chinese origins also, and in Rambo style harass and intimidate land owners.
The gang is also said to have demolished constructed fence walls and structures on plots of land belonging to rightful owners.
Information indicates that the owners of the said lands situated around the AU Village took possession of the lands after the acquisition and exercised overt acts of ownership over the said pieces of land by constructing fence walls.
Interestingly, several land guards and thugs of Chinese origin invaded the plots of land with bulldozers and pulled down the fence wall erected by the owners.
The illegal activities of these Chinese, this paper has learnt, were reported to the Ghana Police but due to the fact that the Chinese are well-connected, the police have not pursued the matter further.
The Police top hierarchy, which is reportedly privy to the development, has now allegedly teamed up with these Chinese nationals to defraud the people of their lands.
Well-placed sources and checks by the Ghanaian Publisher have revealed that police officers are being used as security guards by these Chinese.
This paper can report that some officers of the Ghana Police Service have been deployed to give 24-hour protection to Chinese nationals to carry out construction projects on these lands.
According to residents in the neighbourhood, the police intervention that they have all been expecting has not been forthcoming because the leadership is rather deploying officers to protect the Chinese nationals against indigenous Ghanaian land owners.
Although the owners of these lands subsequently reconstructed the fenced walls and the caretaker posts, one of the Chinese nationals, Yang Yang has threatened to pull them down and any structures that may be put up.
Meanwhile, the Chinese have commenced construction activities on these lands with the intention to appropriate more plots since they (the Chinese) have the backing of some top political figures.
Checks indicate that these Chinese nationals have failed, on countless occasions, to establish rights to these disputed lands and do not have land title certificates to defend their rights to the lands.
The Chinese nationals who are managers of Zonda Tec Ghana Ltd., a Light and Heavy-duty equipment and vehicle trading company and its subsidiaries continue to flout an Interlocutory Injunction granted against them over the said parcels of land.
There is a pending Interlocutory Injunction in a Suit No. L.D/056/2022, against Zonda subsidiaries.
However, they continue to work right in the immediate sight of the police in the heart of the City.
Despite the Interlocutory Injunction against the Chinese company from developing the land, they are developing the land in frantic haste and with the support and protection of the police in total disregard and utmost contempt to the orders of a High Court.
