A former Accra mayor, Mr Adjiri Blankson says Joe Ghartey is likely to win the NPP’s flagbearership race with his “solid background”.
According to him, the Essikado-Ketan constituency lawmaker has been expectational on his political journey – hence, fit to lead the NPP in the next election.
“If you want to play top-grade politics, stand in front of your mirror and ask yourself do I deserve to be who I want to be”. He said during a conference in Accra.
Mr Ghartey has declared his intention to contest the NPP flagbearership race to lead the ‘Elephant’ in the 2024 presidential election.
Many believed he will be a ‘fine’ president for Ghana with his rich political experience.
Mr Ghartey is one of Ghana’s longest-serving Member of Parliament
He was a deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice under the erstwhile former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s government, moving on to become Ghana’s youngest Minister of Justice and Attorney General in 2006.
He also served as Deputy Speaker of Parliament and a former Minister of Railways Development.
Mr Ghartey is an astute lawyer and has lectured at the Ghana School of Law. He is a patron of the NPP Germany branch, among others.
