Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has refuted claims suggesting that Ghana coach Otto Addo is working on a part-time basis.
Addo, together with his backroom staff, led the four-time African champions to secure a spot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after beating Nigeria on away goals.
However, many Ghanaians believe the coach, who works with German side Borussia Dortmund has little time for the Black Stars, describing him as a part-time coach.
Appearing on TownHall Talk on Friday (11 November), Ussif said the destruction on the technical team of the Black Stars is needless.
“Let me tell you, for those of you who think Otto Addo is a part-time coach, that is not [true],” the sports minister told Victor Atsu Tamakloe. “So, Otto Addo as we speak is working day in day out.”
“I want to appeal to the entire country that we should give the technical team the maximum support, the destruction on the technical team is needless,” he said.
“Almost every single day Otto Addo is working,” Ussif added. “He is monitoring every single Ghanaian player, he is working with his team, Chris Hughton, George Boateng and Didi Dramani. These are competent technical team that we have and I have so much confidence in them.”
