The LPG Marketers Association is predicting a 25% decline in consumption of LPG by the close of 2022.

This, according to the Association, is as a result of taxes on the product which has culminated in price hikes recorded in months past.

Vice President for the LPG Marketers Association Gabriel Kumi told Citi Business News “the use of LPG will decline by about 25%. He noted that LPG is a price-sensitive commodity.

Currently, a kilogram of LPG is selling at 15.90 but consumers are expected to pay 10% higher for the product following a price adjustment done for the Second pricing window of November.

Mr Kumi also said if no intervention is made soon the price of the commodity will continue to soar.

“We are advocating for government to ensure that LPG is affordable …. we are calling on the government to remove taxes from the commodity. We believe LPG must be tax-free” Mr Kumi further noted.
