Four Ghanaians who jointly filed a petition at the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate public officers who have failed to declare their assets, have asked the commission to furnish them with a progress report.
The petitioners are Nicholas Opoku, Lolan Sagoe Moses, Chrystal Selorm Amudzi, Elias Elias Ashkar.
They said they are baffled that the Commission’s investigation into a matter of this nature requires more than 3 months to complete.
“We respectfully request that you provide us with a progress report on the investigations
being conducted in respect of our petition.
“The year is drawing to a close and time is of the essence. In order to make the asset declaration regulatory regime functional and effective, prompt and appropriate action must be taken against defaulters. We are concerned that given your pace of work, this may not be a realistic expectation.
“We believe that CHRAJ under your leadership takes its mandate seriously. We are,
therefore, counting on your professionalism and sworn-duty to execute the functions of
your office without fear or favour, and on time.
“We would be grateful if you could provide us with this progress report by Thursday,
November 24, 2022,” a letter written to CHRAJ that requesting additional information on the investigation said.
