The Council of Elders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for a full report on the 10th Youth and Women’s Conference held last Saturday at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

The Conference was marred by pockets of violence with the police stepping in to ensure calm.

Sixteen persons, spotted on camera, have been declared wanted by the police with any informant leading the police to their arrest to be rewarded GH¢10,000.

After a meeting on Wednesday, December 14, NDC’s Council of Elders condemned the incidents and stressed that any member, elected or not, found culpable in the breach of the rules prescribed by the Congress Planning Committee will face serious disciplinary action, in accordance with the party’s code of discipline.

The Council has also raised concerns about the level to which campaigns have sunk as the party goes into the congress proper on Saturday, December 17.

“Council wishes to remind all contestants that acting contrary to laid down rules and regulations will carry severe sanctions, including disqualification of any contestant,” a statement issued by Chairman of the Council Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu said.

“All contestants are reminded that the party stands supreme and this will not be sacrificed for the personal interest of any contestant, delegate or party member.”

The Council also urged members to ensure that the ideals of probity, accountability, discipline and participatory democracy for all Ghanaians are committed to.
