The parliamentary delegation representing Ghana at the opening ceremony of the 146th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly is at its colourful best.

The high-powered delegation led by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, is expected to champion the interests of the nation’s parliament at the IPU conference in Bahrain.

The conference, under the theme “promoting peaceful coexistence and inclusive societies: fighting intolerance”, will explore and share ideas and perspectives on strengthening democracy worldwide.

As the leader of the delegation, Speaker Bagbin’s ascendancy to the number three (3) position of the land saw him make revolutionary changes to the colonial garments of his office.

Since assuming office as the Speaker of the 8th parliament of Ghana, Rt Hon Bagbin has ditched colonial garments for traditional outfits.

In the spirit of the move, he again rocked a white-flowing Agbada dress at the opening ceremony of the ongoing conference on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

The two leaders of the House, Majority and Minority Leaders, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, respectively, also looked smart in their suits and ties.

At opposing ends of parliamentary debates in Ghana, they united in West-themed outfits at the conference.

First Deputy Minority Whip Ahmed Ibrahim followed the path of his two leaders as he also rocked his suit and tie.

Second Deputy Majority Whip Habib Iddrisu, bearing in mind the event being held in the predominantly Muslim nation of Bahrain, didn’t forget his Islamic roots as he rocked his traditional white up-and-down outfit.

For the two female MPs from Asokwa and Ketu South, the nation’s interests need to be represented more during the Assembly and on the fashion floor.
Madam Patricia Appiagyei and Abla Dzifa Gomashie, styled in their kaba and slit, dazzled the audience at the Exhibition World in Manama, Bahrain.
