The dean of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Vladimir Antwi-Danso has warned of a possible bloodbath if the International Criminal Court (ICC) attempts to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The International Criminal Court on Friday issued an arrest warrant for Putin over war crimes in Ukraine, especially the alleged unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia.
Moscow has denied the allegations and labelled the warrants as “outrageous”.
Touching on the development on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (20 March), Antwi-Danso said: “I’m not surprised that this is happening. The ICC went to Ukraine and was looking for someone to indict.”
“If at the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) meeting in South Africa, Russia attends and any attempt is made to arrest Putin then there will be a bloodbath… And it would have been as a result of the ICC.
“ICC has precipitated an action but it’s too early to indict someone,” Antwi-Danso said in an interview with Kwaku Nhyira-Addo.
“They should be talking peace. Why precipitate an action that will exacerbate the situation? That’s my only question,” he said. Asaase Radio
