Two flagbearer hopefuls of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, took their campaigns to Ghana’s Parliament House during a meeting of the Majority caucus on Tuesday May 2nd 2023.
Sources within the NPP Parliamentary caucus suggest the former General Secretary put up a far more Presidential performance, outlining his vision of a NEW DAWN adding that the party requires a clear departure from the status quo.
Ing Kwabena Agyepong told the MPs that the party needs a fresh impetus driven by a decisive leader to rejuvenate its base and recreate the necessary enthusiasm that’ll animate the grassroots to deliver the elusive third consecutive victory in 2024.

In contrast Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who came an hour later to meet the same gathering was uninspiring and stuttered throughout only to inform the MPs of his decision to contest the party’s Flagbearership without adding any notable policy pointers which left many unimpressed.
According to several insiders, the gulf between the two was obvious, with the former General Secretary outshining the sitting vice president in areas of vision, confidence, and delivery.
According to snippets we are picking from amongst the MPs who attended the meeting Ing Agyepong’s delivery was considered far more focused and pragmatic. It appears this has caused apprehension and confusion amongst the supporters of Dr. Bawumia within the parliamentary caucus.
