GREAT IS HIS FAITHFULNESS
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23)
It is interesting to find such a declaration of God’s mercy and faithfulness in a book full of lamentations. In the midst of wailing over Jerusalem’s exile into captivity for their disobedience, Jeremiah bursts forth with praise and adoration to God for His faithfulness.
He highlights three things.
- God is faithful. He and His word are one. It is His nature to do what He has said He will do. This assurance of God’s unchanging nature makes Him dependable and trustworthy. He shows Himself faithful to all who are faithful to Him.
- God is merciful. The Lord shows underserved favour and kindness to all people. Because of His mercies, we are rescued from dangers that are seen and those hidden from us. His commitment to show His mercy is steadfast – He renews it day by day.
- God does new things every morning. He is an awesome God. With Him, there is always something fresh and new to look forward to. You can trust Him for new miracles, signs and wonders. Out of His goodness, He can grant an unimaginable turnaround by the morning of a new day. He draws us into His presence and leads us in victory when we walk with Him.
Waiting on the Lord with fasting and prayer is never in vain. The faithful God sees and abundantly rewards every act of faith and dependence on Him. Out of His mercy and faithfulness, He answers our prayers and performs wondrous works in our lives. May His hand of power be extended to you.
May His power bring healing, deliverance and a turnaround to you.
May salvation come to your household and may your family come to know the Lord.
May mighty new doors be opened for you in business.
May rivers of the Lord flow in every dry place.
May you be a testament of the faithfulness of God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are faithful. You have done so much for us. Morning by morning you show us mercy. Thank you for all you have done. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
